The American Hockey League (AHL) will release its schedule for the 2017-18 season later this week, but teams around the league announced the opponent for their home opener Monday afternoon.
After a thrilling back-and-forth first round playoffs series between the Lehigh Valley Phantoms and Hershey Bears went the distance last spring, it's only fitting that the Phantoms will begin the home portion of their schedule hosting the Bears on Saturday, October 7th at 7:05 p.m. ET at the PPL Center in downtown Allentown, Pa.
While unconfirmed until the league releases the full schedule for all teams, it's believed that the Phantoms' home opener will also mark their season opener on October 7th.
While waiting for the Phantoms' full schedule for the 2017-18 season - and we'll have a full breakdown of that as soon as its officially released - take a look at an exclusive breakdown of opponents the Phantoms will face this upcoming season.
We don't know the whens and wheres just yet, but a league source shared how many times the Phantoms will play each of their opponents in the 2017-18, and we shared that exclusive information here along with the news about the realignment of the AHL's divisions for the upcoming season.

Losing all three playoff games played on home ice at the PPL Center is simply not something that can be referred to as "thrilling". A term such as "choke artistry" would be applicable. But certainly not "thrilling" --- no matter how many spin cycles this particular piece of dirty laundry is put through.
Several one-goal games and overtime playoff hockey is thrilling. Maybe the results from a Phantoms' perspective weren't enjoyable but to call it a choke job is asinine.
Out damned spot! Out, I say! One : two : why, then, 'tis time to do't. Hell is murky (much like losing all three playoff games contested on home ice)! ... What we need fear who knows it, when none can call our power to account?
Some stains simply don't come out in the wash as Lady MacBeth, herself, could effortlessly confirm.
