Thiessen Named 2011 Baz Bastien "Goalie of the Year"
I think it's safe to say that Brad Thiessen is having a career year. Thiessen's 34-7-1 record this season broke the team's record for wins in a season set by John Curry. He is first in the AHL in wins (34) and shutouts (7) while being second in the league in goals-against average (1.93). Here's a list of Thiessen's accomplishments in the 2010-11 season, his second year of professional hockey:
Two-time Reebok/AHL Goaltender of the Month
One-time Reebok/AHL Player of the Week
Voted the starting goaltender for the 2010-11 AHL All Star Game
Voted to 2010-11 First Team AHL All-StarNow you can add the Baz Bastien Award for outstanding goalie as voted by coaches, players and members of the media in each of the league’s 30 teams. All that's left for Thiessen is the Les Cunningham Award (League MVP), which will be announced on April 8th, and of course the Calder Cup Trophy. All the awards aside, Thiessen has really stepped up this season and deserves all of the attention he is getting right now.
