The Wilkes-Barre Scranton Penguins have announced the signing of Brian Gibbons to an amateur tryout. Here's some info on Gibbons via the team's website:
Gibbons, 23, recently completed his senior season at Boston College (HE), where he totaled 51 points (18+33) in 39 games. The 5-8, 165-lb. native of Braintree, MA has compiled 164 points (56+108) in 160 career games at Boston College.Sounds like Gibbons is a small forward, comparable to a Chris Conner, that can create offense. I hope to talk with Gibbons at tomorrow morning's practice to give more insights about who he is as a player.
The Penguins also released Reid McNeill from his amateur tryout today. McNeill didn't see any action and was brought in to get a feel for what pro hockey is all about. I'm sure he'll be back with the Pens sometime in the future.
