10/11 WBS Penguins Practice UPDATE

Tuesday, October 11, 2011
Some quick hits from practice today:
  • The biggest news was seeing Nick Petersen and Jason Williams skating on the ice at the Coal Street Rink this morning. Sure both were wearing red no-contact jerseys, but its a sign that they are one step closer to returning to game action.
  •  The Penguins signed forward Matt Rust to a PTO today and he was on the ice as well wearing #23. I don't know too much about him but he's another small, quick forward that is good on his skates. Not sure how he fits into the Penguins puzzle right now.
  • Ben Street didn't practice today. You might recall him leaving Sunday's game against the Connecticut Whale. I was told from a source close to the team that Street will be out for a little bit. Not really a concrete timetable but at least it sounds (initially) that the injury isn't serious.
  • I also Robert Bortuzzo today, talking with Keven Veilleux while watching practice. Looked like Bortuzzo was sweating which means he's probably doing off-ice workouts. Hopefully he can return to the lineup sometime soon.
