Win & They're In
The Penguins look to keep rolling in Newfoundland and clinch a playoff spot this weekend. Hershey's 3-2 loss to Providence last night moved the magic number from 4 down to 2 for the Penguins. So, for the Penguins to punch their ticket to the Calder Cup Playoffs they need one of three things to happen:
a) A Penguins win, b) A Hershey loss, or c) A Penguins & Bears OTL/SOL
Two of the Penguins recent ATO's, defenseman Clark Seymour and goaltender Matt Murray, have gone home for the summer after coming in for a few days and learning what the pro ranks are about.
Newly acquired forward Derek Nesbitt did not make the trip to Newfoundland and won't play this weekend. Per Peoria beat writer Dave Eminian, Nesbitt is nursing a lower body injury. Eminian also added that the Rivermen were going to hold Nesbitt out the rest of the regular season so he can avoid veteran status next season. I would imagine the Pens would do the same, but time will tell.
