Evan Rankin will be back in the Phantoms lineup this weekend. Photo credit: Nina Weiss
The Lehigh Valley Phantoms saw two more names added to the injured list, as forwards Nick Cousins and Evan Rankin left Friday's game against the St. John's IceCaps early and didn't return. After Sunday's shootout win over the Hershey Bears, I caught up with Phantoms head coach Scott Gordon for updates on some of the injured guys.

After the jump, updates on Cousins and Rankin in addition to defensemen Robert Hagg and Christian Marti, the latter of which was cleared for full contact.

Scott Gordon on Evan Rankin, who took a Gostisbehere point shot to the neck Friday vs. St. John's:
Evan for sure will be back next week.
Gordon on Nick Cousins, who was visibly dazed after a hit at his own blue line Friday vs. St. John's:
Nick, I won't know when I'll know. I'll probably get some information on Tuesday, but whether he's good for the weekend it's too early yet.
Gordon on Robert Hagg, who has been practicing with the team in a no-contact jersey:
I don't know for sure about next weekend. He's a lot closer now than he was last week at this time. Last week at this time he was definitely out for the weekend and now we can say, I don't know if he'll get in Friday or not but he's a lot closer.
Gordon on Christian Marti, who has been cleared for full contact:
He should be back next weekend. We're excited about that. I think he's going to add a good dimension to our D core. It'll be good to have him.
The Phantoms Injured List

D Robert Hagg - Could return this upcoming weekend, practiced in full Tuesday
D Christian Marti - Will make his Phantoms debut this weekend
F Cole Bardreau - Still out, but practiced Tuesday in a non-contact jersey
F Evan Rankin - Will return to the lineup this weekend

Ich bin aufgeregt. Endlich, ist unser neue Verteidiger aus der Schweiz. Die Phantome muessen mehr oft die Eier zeigen. Hoffentlcih, kann er helfen. Ich glaube, dass er wird.
