Stolarz Re-Assigned To Phantoms, LV Practice Update

The youth movement is in full swing in Lehigh Valley.
There was a lot going on at the PPL Center Wednesday morning. A total of 28 players were on the ice for Lehigh Valley Phantoms practice - including two more new arrivals in highly regarded prospects Travis Sanheim (1st round - 2014) and Nicolas Aube-Kubel (2nd round - 2014).

On Friday night in Wilkes-Barre, they will join Oskar Lindblom, Reece Willcox and Steven Swavely on the list of Phantoms' players on amateur tryouts making their AHL debut.

Preaching to the choir, but there's only one way to keep up with all of the latest news surrounding the Lehigh Valley Phantoms and all of the incoming prospects. Be sure you're following me on Twitter (@TonyAndrock) and now on Facebook as well for the latest updates and links to some exclusive content you won't find anywhere else.

The Phantoms begin their three-game weekend Friday in Wilkes-Barre against the rival Penguins, before returning to PPL Center Saturday to begin a home-and-home series with the Bridgeport Sound Tigers which will conclude Sunday evening at Webster Bank Arena in Bridgeport, Connecticut. I'll have full coverage of Lehigh Valley's final six games this season.

After the jump, updates on several players in a loaded practice update.

ROSTER NOTES - Phantoms

EDIT: The Flyers have re-assigned goaltender Anthony Stolarz to the Phantoms. With Steve Mason playing every game in net, there's no reason Ray Emery can't serve as the backup and allow Stolarz - a second year pro - to play games in AHL versus sitting around and watching in NHL.

Goaltender Alex Lyon, whom the Flyers signed this week out of Yale University to an entry-level contract, will not be reporting to Lehigh Valley this spring per GM Ron Hextall. I wouldn't expect him to join the Flyers either, as the impression I got from those I spoke to it sounds like Lyon is finishing his school semester.

Veteran Jason LaBarbera has been ruled out for the season. The Phantoms will finish their final six games with Martin Ouellette and Connor Knapp.

Defenseman Travis Sanheim and forward Nicolas Aube-Kubel will make their pro debuts Friday night in Wilkes-Barre against the rival Penguins.

Forwards Radel Fazleev (hand) and Travis Konecny (shoulder), both of whom have been eliminated from the junior league playoffs, will not play with the Phantoms this spring due their injuries.

Forward Jay Rosehill received a three-game suspension for his illegal check to the head of St. John's IceCap defenseman Josiah Didier during last Saturday night's game. Rosehill will miss all three games this weekend.

Also receiving a suspension from the weekend games in St. John's is Aaron Palushaj, who received a one-game suspension for his awkward hit along the boards on IceCaps forward Charles Hudon in Friday's game. There wasn't a penalty on the play, but Hudon left the game and didn't return for the rest of the weekend's action.

Michael Parks has been skating in a yellow non-contact jersey at practice for the past two weeks. I had ruled him out for the season after a conversation I had with Parks about six weeks ago, but it's nice to see him skating out there. He's been out of the lineup since the Phantoms' third game of the season back on October 17th in Wilkes-Barre.
