Brad Thiessen shut the door in the shootout, stopping 4 of the 5 shooters he faced. |
The WBS Penguins got off to a slow start and looked sloppy in the 2nd period but managed to pull off a 2-1 shootout victory over the Albany Devils tonight. The magic number for the division title is now at five points.
Brad Thiessen picked up his 32nd win of the season and needs one more win to tie John Curry for most wins in a season for a WBS goalie with 33. Ryan Craig tapped home a puck in a goalmouth scramble on the power play midway through the opening period. Brett Sterling and Keven Veilleux scored in the shootout.
The win gives the Pens 51 on the season, tying a franchise record. They'll look to surpass that on Friday when they take on the Binghamton Senators up in New York. I'll be at the WBS Penguins practice tomorrow morning and will put up an after-practice update sometime in the afternoon.
