Three Goal Third Ends Regular Season With Win

Sunday, April 10, 2011
Nick Petersen scored two goals tonight. I've been saying it for weeks that he's going to catch fire.

Through two periods the game looked and felt like a season finale that didn't mean anything. The Wilkes-Barre Scranton Penguins were trailing 2-1 and really looked like they were going through the motions. I'm not sure what was said in the locker room but the Pens came out and took over in the third period, registering 21 shots on goal including three that hit the back of the net in route to a 4-2 win over the Adirondack Phantoms.

And with that the regular season is over. The Penguins won a ton of awards from the league this year and finish with a record of 58-21-0-1. With the Norfolk Admirals beating Connecticut this afternoon, the Penguins will play their first round series against the Admirals. The series will start on Friday, April 15th, with the first two games being played in Wilkes-Barre. The series will feature a 2-3-2 with the home team (the Pens) getting the first two and last two games of the series at home, if necessary.
