Walker was signed last week and the move gives the Penguins more depth up front in case NHL forwards like Tyler Kennedy and yes, even Jaromir Jagr aren't able to be signed by Ray Shero and company in Pittsburgh. Arron Asham was just signed to a one year deal worth $775,000. The NHL Penguins still have about $5.7 million in cap space with 11 forwards signed for next season.
The WBS Penguins can choose to go back to a line that proved successful towards the end of the 2010-11 campaign, with Ryan Craig centering Geoff Walker and Keven Veilleux. That line seemed to do a little bit of everything, all three can score, hit and punish the enemy with their fists. Veilleux had many scraps this season, while Walker seemed to be the hero with his overtime goal against Rochester. Either way, the Penguins have a strong forward unit coming back in 2011-12.
If the WBS Penguins could get lucky they could have these forwards for opening night:
Dustin Jeffrey, Eric Tangradi, Nick Johnson, Ryan Craig, Joe Vitale, Keven Veilleux, Bryan Lerg, Geoff Walker, Zach Sill, Nick Petersen, Ben Street, Paul Thompson and Brian Gibbons.
Not too bad eh? The signing of Arron Asham pulls this dream closer to a reality. We should have a better idea after this weekend, the first three days of free agency.

I'd actually like to see a couple of them in the NHL to start, to be honest, likely Jeffrey and Tangradi though who knows (as Letestu demonstrated). I want WBS to remain very competitive with a strong line-up, but I also want to see the players start moving up and showing their skill and ability at the NHL level. It's always a strange feeling to hope that someone does well enough to be able to leave when part of me would actually like them to stay :)
Rupp should be a priority, he has heart and has given us 2 great years, if we don't bring Goddard back Rupp will be needed. Welcome back Duper, and AA, Bring on Double J as well and we can smell the cup getting closer with healthy Malkin and Crosby
