AHL Schedule: A Look at WBS in 2011-12

The WBS Penguins can begin lighting the lamp at home on October 8th.
The AHL released their schedule for the 2011-12 season yesterday. They open the season at home against the Hershey Bears on Saturday, October 8th, at 7:05 p.m. EST.

Some initial reaction to the Penguins' 76 game schedule after the jump.

Regular season starts: October 8th
Regular season ends: April 15th

The new schedule eliminates four games in five days and should make the games more exciting and less of a battle of attrition. The new schedule still features some three straight games however.

Last year the Penguins played almost all of their games on Wednesdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays. This season the Penguins have at least two games on every day of the week:
Monday (2), Tuesday (7), Wednesday (8), Thursday (2), Friday (19), Saturday (26), Sunday (12)
The game-by-game schedule is here. You just have to scroll down to the last page. The WBS Penguins schedule should be in the middle column. I'm not going to get into too much detail about who the Penguins play when, how many times they play a month, etc. You can look into all that stuff if you so choose.

If you have any questions or comments about the schedule feel free to add your thoughts/opinions below.
