Gibbons is tied for second on the team in scoring with nine points (3G-6A) in his first nine pro games. |
Sorry about the lack of coverage for last night's game. Everything seemed to go wrong. Technology was part of it, AHL Live had its usual miscues. I also caught one of those 24 hour viruses and went out like a light at about 8 p.m. EST. Thankfully, the Penguins had better luck than I did last night. Here's a quick recap for those who missed last night's game:
- Brian Gibbons got the Penguins a 1-0 lead in the first period. He finished with a goal and two assists and continues to impress in the early going.
- Geoff Walker left the game in the first period and did not return. I'll see what I can find out at practice this week and update his status for next weekend's games.
- The Penguins scored two quick goals in the 2nd period, courtesy of Eric Tangradi and Nick Petersen.
- Niko Dimitrakos would make it 4-0 in the 3rd period, and Thiessen would win his fourth straight start. Unfortunately his shutout was broken by Monarchs' Brandon Kozun.
- Penguins win 4-1 and are now 5-0-0-0 on the road so far this season.
