WBS Penguins Beat Admirals 4-2

Despres had his first multi-point night tonight as a pro.
The Penguins continued their dominance on the road with a 4-2 win in Norfolk tonight. That makes it 7-0-0-0 on the road along with seven straight wins. The win over the Admirals also puts the Penguins into first place in the East Division. All is well for the Wilkes-Barre Scranton Penguins right now.

Dustin Jeffrey and Steve MacIntyre, who were sent on conditioning assignments to the AHL Penguins, both played tonight. Jeffrey was a bit on the quiet side tonight but did have a few chances. MacIntyre was physical as ever, crushing guys with big hits and in the third period pummeling Scott Jackson in a fight.

A quick recap after the jump.

The Penguins got things started with a power play goal 4:46 into the first period. Simon Despres' shot from the point found its way to Eric Tangradi and Tangradi banged home the rebound.

The Admirals tied up the game with a power play goal of their own in the first period. After that it was all Penguins.

Dustin Tokarski slipped up handling the puck behind the net and Ben Street got his first goal of the season rather easily, with a wrap around goal into an empty net, to give the Pens a 2-1 lead. Simon Despres got his 2nd goal of the season, batting in a rebound on a quick transition rush to make it 3-1 after the first period.

Things got physical in the middle frame to make up for the lack of goal scoring. Carl Sneep leveled an Admirals player with a clean check and a line brawl ensued late in the period. It seemed like every whistle after that had pushing and shoving matches the rest of the middle frame.

The Admirals made a game of it in third period, getting the game to a one goal deficit, but Eric Tangradi sealed the deal with an empty net goal. 4-2 win for the Penguins.
