Recap after the jump.

The Penguins were outplayed and out shot 14-9 in the first period, but were able to rely on some big saves from Munroe and got timely goals from Brandon DeFazio and Ryan Craig.

Shortly after the Penguins first power play chance, the Penguins got a 3-on-2 rush and DeFazio was able to whack home a rebound to give the Pens a 1-0 lead. Matt Rust and Geoff Walker got the assists.

Just two minutes later, Philip Samuelsson kept a puck in the zone and threw it behind the net to McDonald who found Craig for a bang-bang play and the puck beat Tarkki for a 2-0 Penguins lead with 38.9 left in the opening period.

Peter Merth took a penalty, tripping up Dan Sexton on his way to the net, at the tail end of the period giving the Crunch 1:46 of power play time to start the second period.

A solid middle frame for the Pens, who killed off a four minute double minor on Ryan Schnell for headbutting. Scott Munroe continued to play at the top of his game, stopping all 11 shots he faced in the 2nd period.

Patrick Maroon broke the shutout about five minutes into the third period, scoring his 11th of the season and making it a one goal game.

Brandon DeFazio got his second of the night with 1:46 left to give the Pens a 3-1 lead and everything seemed to be in control. Craig got the only assist.

The Crunch made it interesting, scoring an extra attacker goal with 30 seconds left, but it wasn't enough and the Penguins come away with the victory.
