Monday's Defensive Movement 4/2

Monday, April 2, 2012
Samuelsson (left) was demoted to the ECHL. Sneep (right) will have season ending surgery.
A few things to catch up on as the Penguins get ready for a Tuesday night match up with the red hot Norfolk Admirala, the last regular season meeting between the teams.
  • First off, Brian Strait was re-assigned to the AHL Penguins since Kris Letang returned in Pittsburgh. And since Strait was back in the AHL ranks, Philip Samuelsson was sent to the ECHL affiliate Wheeling Nailers. The Nailers are getting ready to start their 2012 playoff run.
  • In other defensemen news, Carl Sneep will have season ending surgery according to head coach John Hynes through Penguins beat writer Jonathan Bombulie. A great start but ultimately an injury plagued season for Sneep.
With these moves, here's how the WBS defense shakes out:
Robert Bortuzzo - Brian Strait
Alexandre Picard - Joey Mormina
Simon Despres - Alex Grant - Cody Wild
Up front, Jason Williams missed Saturday's game in Albany but he practiced today so he appears ready for tomorrow's game.

Highland Park Hockey will be at the Scope in Norfolk again providing exclusive in game photos, updates. etc on the Twitter side. Follow us if you're not already! We will post photos on our Facebook page of the game as well.
