The big news of the day is the departure of Brian Strait, who has been claimed off waivers by the New York Islanders. Wishing Brian Strait all the best with his new team.

Meanwhile, at the WBS Penguins practice facility at Coal Street, the AHL Penguins had their last practice of the week before boarding the bus tomorrow afternoon to head to Hershey for this weekend's AHL Outdoor Game.

Follow the official Twitter Feed of Highland Park Hockey for all the latest news, injury updates, live in-game action and anything WBS Penguins related.

Missing from practice today were forwards Phil Dupuis and Warren Peters. Dupuis (undisclosed) left practice Monday with a minor injury and didn't play Tuesday in Norfolk. Peters (upper body) took a big hit in the 1st period of Wednesday's scrimmage in Pittsburgh and did not return.

I spoke with head coach John Hynes after the 90 minute session. He said both are day-to-day and with two days before their next game, he is unsure whether or not they will be in the lineup Sunday. Benn Ferriero practiced in full today and is expected to play Sunday.

A lot of bodies at practice today, including recent call ups from Wheeling forwards Chris Barton, Paul Crowder and Adam Payerl and defensemen Carl Sneep and Cody Wild.  Payerl was wearing Eric Tangradi's number 25 in practice today. Wild was wearing Brain Strait's number 7.

Here's a look at the lines from Friday's practice.

Holzapfel - Smith - Thompson
Bennett - Ferriero - Megna
Farnham -  Sill - Gibbons
Uher - Barton - Payerl
MacIntyre - Crowder

Reese - Dumoulin
Mormina - Grant
Morrow - Samuelsson
Sneep - Wild
