Tuesday Practice UPDATE 2/19

Tuesday, February 19, 2013
Not much coming out of Penguins practice at Coal Street today. I caught up with John Hynes and asked what the message was in practice this week, with another three game weekend coming up.

"We just gotta get better, keep working on our game and continue to get better," Hynes said.

The Penguins practice at Coal Street again tomorrow and Thursday before traveling to Philadelphia to take on the Adirondack Phantoms at the Wells Fargo Center, home to the NHL Flyers.
  • Alex Grant did not practice today and is day-to-day per Hynes. Grant took that high hit from Mat Clark on Friday night and hasn't played since.
  • Trevor Smith didn't practice today either, leaving just 11 healthy forwards on the ice for practice. Hynes said Smith's absence from practice was a maintenance day. I saw Smith signing autographs after practice.
  • Dylan Reese, who didn't play Sunday, was at practice and participated in full. Reese looked like he was in pain during Saturday night's warmup in Binghamton, and he actually left the warmup early and came back on the ice before making the decision to play.
  • Paul Thompson even came out with gloves and a stick and skated on his own for about ten minutes after practice had ended. Not sure how close he is to returning but its encouraging to see him out there skating and passing with teammates.
  • Also missing from practice today were forwards Phil Dupuis and Steve MacIntyre.
