Brad Thiessen has, like many of his teammates with Wilkes-Barre/Scranton last season, signed overseas. The former Penguins goaltender has found a new home with HIFK in Finland (SM-Liga).
Much like when Thiessen came to town and bounced John Curry out of North America, (Curry went to the German DEL), the same has happened to Thiessen after Jeff Zatkoff entered the Penguins organization. I get the feeling the only reason Thiessen signed with the Pens this past season was because of the NHL lockout.
Thiessen will best be known for stepping up big in the Penguins historic come-from-behind series win against the Providence Bruins, including a big Game Six that set the stages for an even bigger Game Seven win. Thiessen was always a playoff performer and his numbers prove that sentiment.
After four seasons with the Penguins, Thiessen has moved on to Finland.
