With Albany's 5-2 win over Springfield and Providence's loss to Worcester, the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins finish with the 6th seed and will face East Division rival Binghamton Senators in the Eastern Conference Quarterfinals of the 2014 Calder Cup Playoffs.
The Penguins won't have home ice advantage in the first round of the AHL playoffs, a best-of-five-series, but they avoided a long trip to Newfoundland for at least the first round and get to play arguably their biggest rival this season in the Senators.
