Penguins Extend Kostopoulos For 2014-15

Thursday, June 5, 2014
The Penguins captain will be back for the 2014-15 season.
Penguins fans didn't have to wait long for the first off-season signing, as the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins announced the re-signing of team captain Tom Kostopoulos this afternoon to an AHL deal for the 2014-15 season.

Kostopoulos, 35, led the AHL Penguins in scoring during the regular season with 47 points (22G-25A) in 71 games. He also finished tied for fourth on team with 10 points (4G-6A) in the playoffs.

The Mississauga, Ontario native leads the AHL Penguins in almost all of the franchises all-time statistics including goals (122), assists (178) and games played (406). He also has appeared in the most playoff games in a Penguin uniform with 68, while also leading the all-time playoff scoring list with 48 points (15G-33A).

To put it bluntly, Kostopoulos is the definition of Penguins hockey. He's been the face of the franchise since day one and Penguins fans were excited when he came back two seasons ago. Next season will be his 7th in the organization. He knows the system. He's well-liked by the fan base, the players in the locker room, the coaching staff and front office members. A great start to the Penguins summer in bringing back a veteran presence and a leader on an off the ice.

With Kostopoulos signed for next season, here's an updated list of those who are under contract for next season:
