The Phantoms are gearing up for their first three-in-three weekend of the season. |
While there were injuries in last night's Philadelphia Flyers game against the Boston Bruins, there weren't any call ups affecting the Phantoms' three-game weekend starting Friday night against the Providence Bruins as of Thursday afternoon.
"As of now, they all are," head coach Scott Gordon said when asked if everyone at practice today was traveling with the team to Rhode Island. Whether that changes - whether they fly out of Providence - we'll have to wait and see."
The Phantoms begin their three-game weekend in Providence before returning home to face the Bruins at home on Saturday. Lehigh Valley concludes the weekend with a Sunday evening home game at the PPL Center against the Toronto Marlies.
After the jump, injury updates from Scott Gordon. The head coach's and Nick Cousins' thoughts on Kael Mouillierat's two-game suspension, Cousins looking forward to playing on home ice and all the latest roster news/notes surrounding the Phantoms heading into this weekend's games.
Gordon on if Cole Bardreau and Danick Martel will be back this weekend:
They're definitely out. probably looking more in the 2 week range, 3 week range.Gordon's thoughts on WBS forward Kael Mouillierat's two-game suspension for hit on Nick Cousins Saturday night:
It was pretty clear. Nick got a bloody nose from it. He was a little dazed when it happened. That's not going to happen unless it's high. I think it was the right call. Too bad it wasn't called like that in the game.Gordon on the early season test the 3-on-3 provides:
3-in-3's are great when you win because you can very quickly move up the standings, but the biggest thing is you have to take care of the first one. You can't win 3-in-3 if unless you win the first one and our focus has to be on that first game.Nick Cousins on Mouillierat's suspension:
I was sort of looking up for the puck and I didn't see him coming. What did he get, two minutes? So I don't know. It is what it is. We'll move on I guess.Cousins on the team rallying around the fact that there are so many injuries:
Exactly. When guys are injured its an opportunity for others to step up. We have three games in three nights, so everyone is going to be plying - we're going to roll all four lines. It's going to be exciting. I think that the guys that are stepping in are going to be able to do a good job for us and I think we'll be fine.Cousins on getting back in front of the home fans:
I love playing at home. We have good energy at home from our fans. I'm looking forward to it. Hopefully we can put two together at home and one on the road, so I'm looking forward to it.ROSTER NOTES - Phantoms
