The Lehigh Valley Phantoms' injury woes are hitting the team hard again, as veteran forward Tim Brent is going to be on the shelf awhile as he undergoes surgery on his hand. Brent's wife Eva Shockey-Brent posted a picture of the two in a waiting room on her Instagram page.

Surgery means a long term absence for Brent, which goes against what was believed when head coach Scott Gordon said after Monday night's games that it was just some on-going injuries for both Brent and defenseman Andrew MacDonald, who was a full participant in yesterday's practice.

Apparently, Brent went for tests Tuesday and they didn't go well and the decision to have surgery was made yesterday afternoon. Assistant coach Riley Cote was reported to have said on Monday that he thought Brent might be a possibility for tonight's game against Binghamton.

Brent joins Petr Straka on the long term injury list, which leaves a big hole for the team to fill in terms of scoring forwards. Guys like Chris Conner, Taylor Leier, Nick Cousins and Aaron Palushaj will need to lead the way down the stretch if the Phantoms are to contend for a playoff spot.

Goaltender Jason LaBarbera was called up to Philadelphia today to serve as a backup to Michal Neuvirth in Washington tonight. In corresponding moves to the LaBarbera call up and Brent surgery, the Phantoms called up goaltender Martin Ouellette and forward Pavel Padakin from their ECHL affiliate in Reading.

More news from today after the jump.

Phantoms Recall Ouellette & Padakin from Reading, Flyers call up LaBarbera

With Brent out long term, the Phantoms called up forward Pavel Padakin from their ECHL affiliate Reading Royals this morning. In 17 games with the Royals, Padakin tallied 13 points (five goals, eight assists). Padakin began the season in the AHL with the Phantoms, tallying four assists in 23 games before being re-assigned to Reading on back on December 5th.

It looks as though the Philadelphia Flyers will be calling up a goaltender, as per AHL transactions Jason LaBarbera is heading down the turnpike to back up Michal Neuvirth tonight for the Flyers. The Phantoms have called up goaltender Martin Ouellette from Reading, who was 8-7-2 with a 2.00 goals-against average, .916 save percentage and three shutouts in 18 games played in the ECHL this season.

Robotic surgery offers many benefits to patients as compared to open surgery, further Massage near Brookvale has many benefits for the patient, the main advantage for the patient is that shorter hospitalization, it also reduce pain and discomfort, robot surgery reduces blood loss and transfusion,, it also has minimal scarring, it has smaller incision, which have the result reduce the risk of infection in a patient.
