Tuesday Practice Update 4/30

Tuesday, April 30, 2013

A short practice at Coal Street for the main roster earlier this afternoon. They were joined by the Black Aces squad and even forwards Phil Dupuis and Tom Kuhnhackl, who sported red no-contact jerseys. It was the first time I had seen Kuhnhackl skate since his upper body injury back in December.

A few Penguins players had the day off for what I surmise as a maintenance day. The three I didn't see practice today were defenseman Joey Mormina and forwards Paul Thompson and Riley Holzapfel. If they don't practice tomorrow, I'll ask for an update but at this time of year maintenance days for guys is the norm.
The Penguins will have one more practice tomorrow at the Coal Street Rink before Thursday's Game Three at Mohegan Sun Arena, so check back tomorrow after practice for the next update.

The Penguins lead the best-of-five series two games to none against the Binghamton Senators. They'll be looking to complete the series sweep Thursday night.

I spoke to a few of the guys after practice about what their mindset is heading into Thursday night's game. Check out their thoughts below.

Brian Dumoulin:
"We're level-headed. We need to stick to what we do and just focus on ourselves."
Philip Samuelsson:
"When you're trying to end someone's season, you know they're not going to just give it to you. We're not going to sit back. We are going to go out and really attack the game."
Warren Peters:
"We've gotten to a point where we expect to play at a certain level and on days we aren't playing we are focusing on trying to maintain that level."
"Stay with it, just keep the nose to the grindstone. They're going to be a desperate hockey club and that's what we expect. We don't expect the level of the games to be any different than they have been."
