Monday's Catch Up & Lunch Links 10/13

Monday, October 13, 2014
Players huddle up to listen to instruction from head coach John Hynes at practice last week.
It's Monday, which means another edition of catch up and lunch links to help get you through the first day of the work week.

Both the Pittsburgh (NHL) and Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins (AHL) started their season last week, with almost exact opposite results. The NHL Pens are off to a 2-0 start after scoring 11 goals in their first two games. The AHL Pens? They're 0-2 after surrendering nine goals on opening weekend at home.
  • If you are brave enough to read about the AHL Pens woes this past weekend, I covered both games and have recaps below:
  • I also helped contribute to Hockey's Future in their annual top 50 prospects list heading into the season. I wrote eight of the profiles - John Gibson, Aaron Ekblad, Nikita Kucherov, Thomas Jurco, Scott Laughton, Malcolm Subban, Ryan Strome and Curtis Lazar.
The WBS Penguins have a scheduled day off today before resuming practice tomorrow. The AHL Pens have a weekend road trip to Newfoundland ahead of themselves, and I'll be live from Allentown on Friday night for the Lehigh Valley Phantoms home opener against Adirondack.

Stay tuned for a WBS practice update tomorrow afternoon (if the practice is open).
