Local forward Patrick McGrath (Shavertown, Pa.) is trying out for the AHL Penguins. |
For the Pittsburgh Penguins, they play the Minnesota Wild tonight and Detroit Wednesday to conclude their six-game preseason. Their season starts October 9th when they host the Anaheim Ducks.
The big news out of Pittsburgh this morning is that they have placed defenseman Philip Samuelsson and forward Pierre-Luc Leblond on waivers. If they clear, they'll be re-assigned to the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins (AHL).
Meanwhile in Wilkes-Barre, the AHL Penguins are gearing up for their third straight on-ice practice this morning, with their first of three preseason games on Wednesday night when they host Utica. The AHL Pens also open the season at home, on October 11th against the Lehigh Valley Phantoms.
