Players huddle up to listen to instruction from head coach John Hynes at practice last week. |
Both the Pittsburgh (NHL) and Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins (AHL) started their season last week, with almost exact opposite results. The NHL Pens are off to a 2-0 start after scoring 11 goals in their first two games. The AHL Pens? They're 0-2 after surrendering nine goals on opening weekend at home.
- If you are brave enough to read about the AHL Pens woes this past weekend, I covered both games and have recaps below:
- Here's a look at the AHL's East Division in a preview I wrote for Hockey's Future. The plan is to get the rest of the division previews up this week.
- I also helped contribute to Hockey's Future in their annual top 50 prospects list heading into the season. I wrote eight of the profiles - John Gibson, Aaron Ekblad, Nikita Kucherov, Thomas Jurco, Scott Laughton, Malcolm Subban, Ryan Strome and Curtis Lazar.
Stay tuned for a WBS practice update tomorrow afternoon (if the practice is open).
