With forwards Brian Gibbons and Zach Sill called up to Pittsburgh, and Nick Drazenovic and Pierre Luc Leblond inactive at WBS Penguins practice today, the AHL Penguins needed to call up a forward from Wheeling for Wednesday night's game up in Rochester. Instead, the Penguins call in for re-inforcements.
Forwards Denver Manderson and Cody Sylvester, defenseman Dustin Stevenson and goaltender Eric Hartzell have been re-assigned to Wilkes-Barre/Scranton (AHL). In addition, the Penguins loaned goaltender Peter Mannino to Wheeling (ECHL).
Manderson (2G-7A) and Sylvester (5G-1A) have been two of Wheeling's best up front through 12 games. Stevenson tallied five assists and a plus nine rating in nine games with the Nailers after returning from a lower body injury. Hartzell had been playing well too, posting a shutout in his first career win at the pro level.
The moves come two days before the Penguins take to the road for a Wednesday night game against Rochester.
