On Thursday, the WBS Penguins flew out of Winnipeg and into Toronto, where they packed up their hockey gear on bused the team from Toronto back to the Wilkes-Barre Scranton area. |
After a long day of traveling yesterday, the WBS Penguins were given today (Friday) off. An accurate injury update via WBS Penguins beat-writer Jonathan Bombulie, who spoke with head coach John Hynes today:
Joe Vitale (upper body) is day to day after a boarding incident Wednesday in Manitoba. Moose defenseman Ryan Parent was suspended one game for the hit.
John Curry (upper body) is also day to day. Hynes said Patrick Killeen was called up from Wheeling to give Curry a few days off. He said the injury is from overuse and Curry just needs the rest.
Joey Mormina (upper body) is expected back early next week.
Carl Sneep (upper body) could be back by the end of next week.I'm thankful for those stopping by to check on the blog. I don't buy Curry's injury from overuse. Yes he carried the load in January when Brad Thiessen missed a few games. Sure, he was playing in his second game in consecutive nights on Tuesday and Wednesday night but dating back 17 games ago to February 7th, Curry has only played in parts of six of those games. I just hope the "upper body" injury is nothing serious and that Curry will still be good to finish the regular season.
Regarding Vitale's injury, there were reports on Twitter from those that were at the game that Vitale was holding his left arm/shoulder. Not sure if that's the case but again hopefully just a weekend off to rest and ready to go next week.
Haven't heard much on Mormina's "upper body" injury. But good to hear reports from the head coach saying that maybe a week or so for Carl Sneep to be ready after he was seen wearing some sort of bandage or soft cast on his left arm.
I'll talk about tomorrow's game in the pregame preview which I'll post sometime Saturday morning. Big game in front of a possible sellout crowd, hopefully cheering the Pens on to clinching a playoff spot.
